With just two more days until the Teddy Bear Suite and Christmas in Edgartown, the bears are getting ready to move into their water view suite at the Harbor View. They’re meeting their fuzzy friends who have just arrived, getting their festive, holiday bows, and are ready to make kids from one to 92 smile. Actually these teddys will make you smile no matter what the age.
What is the Teddy Bear Suite You Ask?
In the last couple of days, I have had a lot of people ask me what the Teddy Bear Suite is. This is one of my favorite questions to answer because the thought of it brings a big smile to my face. For those who missed last year’s inaugural event, the Teddy Bear Suite, is a magical holiday scene.
There are snowflake lights, Christmas trees decorated with teddy bears, Christmas music, of course dozens of teddy bears of all shapes and sizes, including our two big bears, Edgar and Chappy. There are teddy bear books for children to read and enjoy in a cozy teddy-filled reading nook. Everywhere you look there is the magic of Christmas. It is a sight to behold.
This year, we have even more teddy bears, and we have a two room stunning suite at the Harbor View Hotel, room 201.
How Are We Raising Money For the Boys & Girls Club?
Admission to the Teddy Bear is free. We want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy this special event where holiday memories are made. So, don’t forget your camera!
However, the Teddy Bear Suite is a fundraiser for the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club’s After School Program. With over 300 members participating in this program, which costs over $250,000 to run, and only costs families a $20.00 membership for the year, the Boys & Girls Club needs a lot of support to help raise the additional funds — roughly $244,000 — to maintain this great program.
If you want to learn more about the After School Program, you can read, How the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundrasier Helps Island Kids and The Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Is Beary Supportive Of The MV Boys & Girls Club’s After School Program.
Last year, we were able to raise $3,000 for the After School Program through on-line donations, and raffle items. Knowing that the money raised went directly to help Island kids, we wanted to see if we could raise even more money this year.
So, we got even more amazing raffle items, which you’ll read all about tomorrow. I like to build a little anticipation. And new this year, which I am beary excited about is that with a $10.00 donation to the Boys & Girls Club, you can take home your very own 2012 Teddy Bear Suite teddy bear. These cute, cuddly little friends are the perfect memento from a magical holiday weekend.
