Christmas has passed, and the bears are in hibernation, but the spirit of the season is still in full swing with the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser.
We’re keeping the online donation page open until the end of the year, and we have raised nearly $29,000 for the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Cub’s Healthy Happy Kids program. This new initiative targets childhood hunger that can be found in so many of the hundreds of kids that participate in the Club’s After School Program.
Healthy Happy Kids requires $35,000 for funding and it is the goal of the Teddy Bear Suite to raise as much of that as possible. We, as a community, are so close to raising the entire amount needed for this very important program.
One in four Island children is on reduced or free breakfast and lunch though the public school system. This is a staggering amount of children who are need of food for survival which seems impossible in such a beautiful place like Martha’s Vineyard.
However, it is true, but we are working hard to do something about it. Through the Teddy Bear Suite, MVTeddyBearSuite.Com, events, and online donations, we are raising the money needed to help, and be a big part of the solution.
You too can be part of the solution, simply click here to make a donation to stop childhood hunger.
The Club now provides free food to all its after school children. Not just any food, but food that has been carefully selected to provide a full, balanced, nutritious meal. Each day offers something new — an oatmeal bar with lots of fresh fruit toppings, a whole wheat pasta bar with lots of toppings, etc.
This meal is a necessary gap between school and home for so many. After all, many children eat lunch as early as 11 a.m., leaving some without anything else to eat for the rest of the day. For some, lunch can be the last meal of the day, or at least the last meal with any nutritional value.
That’s why it is so important to give to this year’s Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser. Every dollar raised goes directly to the Club’s Healthy Happy Kids. Find out more about this magical holiday event and Healthy Happy Kids by clicking here.
Every dollar counts and every dollar makes a difference in the life of children, from all six Island towns. Thank you for helping so many children have the chance to be kids and not worry about where their food is coming from, at least during the week.
