For three days, Edgartown is transformed into a Christmas wonderland. Each year, the Christmas In Edgartown weekend gets better and better with more holiday fun.
The Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite, a fundraiser for the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club, saw a record number of visitors in its new home at the Harbor View Hotel Captain’s Cottages.
From 3-months of age to 98, the bears brought countless smiles and warmed hearts all weekend long.
Fundraiser Passes Halfway Point
Along with enjoying the magic of the teddy bears, a number of people helped to support the Boys & Girls Club by buying raffle tickets for some amazing prizes.
With the Christmas in Edgartown weekend surge, the Teddy Bear Suite fundraising goal has now passed the halfway point, landing at $8,500+.
A number of Boys & Girls Club board members and Club kids helped sell the raffle tickets. The lucky winners have been drawn, and we’ll announce them as we go through the blog.
One of my favorite prizes we’ve ever assembled for the Teddy Bear Suite, the Island Restaurant Experience includes 17 gift certificates from $25 – $50 to the following places: Isola, the Wharf, Lucky Hank’s, Atria, Offshore Ale, Art Cliff, Nat’s Nook, the Newes, Lambert’s Cove Inn, Rockfish, Red Cat, Henry’s, Square Rigger, Martha’s Vineyard Chowder Company, Slice of Life, l’etoile and the Terrace at the Charlotte Inn.
The winner of this package was Deirdre O’Brien from Brooklyn. She could not have been more excited. She and her family will be back on Island this Spring and plan to enjoy some delicious local cuisine.
The “Fireworks for Frida” necklace from Aquinnah Jewelry was won by Kathy Groh, on vacation celebrating the holidays here. She was so surprised and thrilled to win this lovely necklace.
A Little Martha’s Vineyard for Your Home, the chic basket from Brickyard in Vineyard Haven included a fabulous octopus print pillow, a LAFCO candle (one of Oprah’s Favorite Things for this holiday), an adorable Edgartown bowl, and a cool metal container, went to Paul Laubscher from New York.
Fun enough, he won a pillow two year’s ago from our Teddy Bear Suite raffle that year, and he’s glad to have another to add to the collection.
And last but not least, the amazing New Year’s Eve in Style on Martha’s Vineyard – the prize winner, Donna Bogan of Natick and Oak Bluffs was over the moon when she found out she won. Though tempting to keep for herself, she gave this amazing prize to her son and daughter-in-law. Now this is gift I could really enjoy!!
This incredible package valued at over $1,250 has everything you need to make ringing in the New Year one of the most memorable ever, donated by the Harbor View Hotel.
It includes two tickets to the New Year’s Eve Celebration at the Harbor View Hotel, two nights in a one bedroom Captain’s Cottage (think of the beauty of the Teddy Bear Suite which is hosted in one of the suites), two tickets for New Year’s Day Brunch at Water Street, and a complimentary coffee table book, “The Harbor View Hotel – The Hotel That Saved a Town.”
We would like to thank all the local businesses for their generosity and for helping make the raffle possible. It is an integral part of raising money for the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club and its vital After School Programs that are used by hundreds of elementary school aged children every week.
We’d like to thank Brickyard, the whole Harbor View Hotel team, Aquinnah Jewelry. And of course, all our restaurant friends: Slice of Life, Nat’s Nook, Art Cliff Diner, Isola, the Wharf, Lucky Hank’s, Atria, Offshore Ale, the Newes, Lambert’s Cove Inn, Rockfish, Red Cat, Henry’s, Square Rigger, Martha’s Vineyard Chowder Company, l’etoile and the Terrace at the Charlotte Inn.
The Joy of the Teddy Bear Suite Continues
If you are yet to experience the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite, where holiday memories are made, don’t worry. The Teddy Bear Suite is open daily thru Sunday, December 28th. It’s the perfect place to visit while on Island and celebrate the season.
There isn’t an admission fee, but we hope that you’ll donate to the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club when you visit. We have a big fundraising goal, $12,000 and the Club is depending on this fundraiser for the renovation of the popular Games Room.
The Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club’s After School Program costs parents only $20 a year. Because it’s so affordable, and open to all, the Club needs a lot of support.
If you can’t stop by and visit, you can DONATE online. We’re more than halfway way to our goal but we need your support. Donate here.
