The Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite is more than an enchanting world of holiday magic and warm, fuzzy teddy bears. It’s also a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club. This year, with your help, we’re hoping to raise $12,000 for the Club.
The Boys & Girls Club charges parents just $20 per year for their After School Program. That’s a less than most people spend on dinner.
This special program is a vital part of so many Island families’ childcare needs. The program is used by hundreds of families and their elementary school aged children, and we want to help do something special for the Club this year.
The $15,000 will help renovate the Games Room at the Club. This room is the central hub of all activity there. The renovation would include new carpet and paint, plus a new TV and ping pong table, and more. If you’ve been there recently, you know the room needs to be redone.
To help us raise money, we have some of the most amazing raffle items for the Teddy Bear Suite this year.
New Year’s Eve In Style On Martha’s Vineyard
The Harbor View Hotel has donated the most amazing New Year’s Eve celebration package to help you bring in 2015 the right way. The party starts at 9:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. The Vineyard’s best party bands, the Sultans of Swing and Mike Benjamin Band, will be playing in Water Street and the Grand Ball room.
There will be Hors d’oeurves throughout the evening, then at midnight, step outside to enjoy the Harbor View Hotel’s fireworks display and champagne toast. Also there is a late check-out at 2 p.m. for guests staying over — which you could be.
This package includes two tickets to the New Year’s Eve Celebration at the Harbor View Hotel, two nights in a one bedroom Captain’s Cottage (think of the beauty of the Teddy Bear Suite which is hosted in one of the suites), two tickets for New Year’s Day Brunch at Water Street, and a complimentary coffee table book, “The Harbor View Hotel – The Hotel That Saved a Town.” A $1,250 value! WOW! I bet your interest is really piqued now! I know I’d love to win this!
The Island Restaurant Experience
Back by popular demand, and now in its third year at the Teddy Bear Suite raffle table, we have the Island Restaurant Experience. It consists of 17— yes my friends 17 — gift certificates to restaurants on Martha’s Vineyard. From fine dining to casual, from new to old favs, there is something for everyone with this delectable raffle item. Wait until you see which restaurants are participating this year.
So many restaurants are supporting the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite and the Boys & Girls Club. Here are the restaurants: Isola, the Wharf, Lucky Hank’s, Atria, Offshore Ale, Art Cliff, Nat’s Nook, the Newes, Lambert’s Cove Inn, Rockfish, Red Cat, Henry’s, Square Rigger, Martha’s Vineyard Chowder Company, Slice of Life, l’etoile and the Terrace. The gift certificates range from $25.00 to $50.00.
That’s 17 gift certificates to some of the Island’s favorite places to dine. All in one package. How can you get your hands on this baby? Well, stop by the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite and the Harbor View Hotel this weekend.
Can you imagine how much better your Winter could be if you had all the gift certificates? They provide the perfect reason to go out. A lot. And not break the bank. A $400 value!
Treat Yourself With Aquinas Jewelry
The lovely and talented Kelley Solomon of Aquinnah Jewelry has donated one of her handcrafted vintage inspired necklaces. I first noticed Aquinnah Jewelry two years ago at the Green Room in Vineyard Haven. I feel in love with the line and had to find out more.
So, I met with Kelley last year and got the story behind Aquinnah Jewelry. Kelley divides her time between Martha’s Vineyard and Connecticut. The Vineyard was the inspiration for her career in jewelry. You might be able to guess that because of the name.
However, Aquinnah is also the name of her daughter. Kelley’s love of the Vineyard runs deep. She visits whenever she can with her family.
For Aquinnah Jewelry, Kelley finds vintage pieces that she uses to create her jewelry. Often pieces are one of a kind because of the materials she uses. She creates beautiful, unique wearable art, and we are happy to have one of her necklaces, “Fireworks for Frida” for this year’s raffle for the Teddy Bear Suite. A $150 Value!

A Little Martha’s Vineyard For Your Home
Brickyard in Vineyard Haven is one of the Island’s fabulous home decor and accessories store. Owners Scott Mullin and Kate Shanor have an eye for the perfect piece for your home. From vintage pieces to handmade one of a kind pieces, to new boutique items. It can be found here.
But be careful, because in addition to the fun things for your home, there’s quite the selection of things for yourself. Gorgeous leather clutches (I have one that I love to use for going out), scarves, jewelry and more will tempt your resolve. I seem to always leave with something or other.
This amazing raffle item that Scott put together consists of the perfect octopus print pillow, a LAFCO candle, one of Oprah’s Favorite Things for this holiday which you can get here on Island, an adorable Edgartown bowl, and a cool metal container. A $200 value!
So, this weekend, during Christmas in Edgartown, make sure you stop by the lobby at the Harbor View Hotel and get a raffle or five. Each ticket is $5 or five for $20, and all the money goes to the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club, and you’ll have a good chance at winning one of these amazing raffle items!
Then make your way to the magical Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite at the Captain’s Cottages, where holiday memories are made. There isn’t an admission fee, but we hope that you’ll donate to the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club when you visit. As you know, we have a big fundraising goal, $15,000 and the Club is depending on this fundraiser for the renovation of the popular Games Room.
The Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club’s After School Program costs parents only $20 a year. Because it’s so affordable, and open to all, the Club needs a lot of support. If you can’t stop by and visit this weekend, you can also done online. We’re more than a third of the way to our goal but we need your support. Donate here.
