Ah, I remember the days of stopping by Pizza di Napoli after work in Edgartown last year, and then it was gone. This pizza place that was once located in Nevin Square — just across from our new Point B Real Estate Store — quickly made a name for itself.
With fresh, inspired combinations of topics, and a crust to die for, it was a favorite of many. However, it’s location was not able to work, so it closed in October.
Fast forward five months later and Pizza di Napoli is back, but this time, in Oak Bluffs, and at Loft. Whoohoo, the Pollo can be mine again (roasted chicken, pears, and goat cheese), a pie one should not have to live without.
Pizza Lounge @ Loft
Pizza di Napoli is now open seven days a week at The Loft at 5:00 p.m. The menu is still a work in progress, but pies are being made nightly. It was great to see the founder, Joe Monteiro, working with pizza ovens again!
It’s a fun addition to the Island’s “adult” game room. Pizza, darts, etc., and beverages — what’s not to like?
The pizzas are served on pizza peels, on top of large sauce cans. It’s rustic and cool. Also, the pies are huge, the biggest on the Island for sure.
I stopped by on the night of Pizza di Napoli’s soft opening, and was thrilled to see people being served these great pizzas. Taking a break from a game of pool or darts to grab a bite, the pizza really added to the “night out” feel. It’s also nice to have a good pizza and watch a game.
The high tops had people enjoying pies, the front room had tables set up for dining, the space really lends itself to being a pizza place. Just think the menu is going to become even more extensive, including appetizers, salads, and more.
Pizza di Napoli’s crust is thin and has just the right amount of crisp to it. On this particular evening, I had the Funghi, which is loaded with mushrooms, goat cheese and topped with truffle oil. So good!! I can’t believe I can get some of my favorite pizza again, and lucky for me, it’s right around the corner from where I live.
The only thing to keep in mind is that The Loft is 21 & up, but don’t you worry, I believe that Joe and JB have somethings in the works to help make it easy to access pizza from Pizza di Napoli. Stay tuned for that. This is one dynamic partnership.
But in the meantime, be sure to stop by and try Pizza di Napoli at The Loft. It’s a little slice of heaven, surrounded by games for adults. There’s to-go as well…think pizza parties at home or a pie for the beach (warm weather is on its way).
Author’s Note: This week not only is the opening week of Pizza di Napoli but also the newest Wash Ashore beer, the Maya Mae is going to make its debut there. Might be fun to try this weekend, and if IPA’s are not your thing, Wash Ashore Budda Pale Ale is well represented.
Maya Mae, named after Joe’s dog, is an India Pale Ale, with notes of cantaloupe, and he says this beer is so delicious. As an IPA fan, I am looking forward to trying it, and I can’t wait to try the Summer Ale coming out later this year.
