No Man, woman or child should miss Nomans this Summer. Since word got out that Lola’s restaurant at the Island Inn in Oak Bluffs was being transformed into something all new, with Doug Abdelnour at the helm, Islanders and visitors have been waiting with bated breath. The wait is over. Nomans Restaurant opens on Martha’s Vineyard.
I could not be more happy to be writing about Nomans in Oak Bluffs. I don’t even know where to begin.
Nomans Restaurant Opens On Martha’s Vineyard In Oak Bluffs
There is just so much I love at Nomans Restaurant. For years, I have wanted a place on Martha’s Vineyard that was similar to the Cisco Brewery complex of fun on Nantucket — open space, causal, loaded with games, kid-friendly, dog-friendly — a place that checked all the boxes.
Nomans does that and does it well. Whether you walk through the barn doors or to the side near the expansive patio/dining/hang out area, you know you’ve come to the right place.
Everything looks inviting, the large tables for hanging out with friends and family, the lawn with all the games, it is just awesome — a space the Island needed.
Nomans Restaurant Opens On Martha’s Vineyard: Good Chef, Good Food
Nomans is more that esthetically pleasing, it is palette pleasing! Chef Austin Racine, private chef and State Road restaurant veteran, is in the kitchen serving up great food for all ages, and it’s not table service. Think elevated Nancy’s Snack Bar concept. You order at the counter inside, and you get a buzzer.
It’s easy and fantastic! The food is delicious! We had a montage of food and loved it all. However, the superstar was definitely Austin’s Poke Bowl ($16). The tuna, the coconut rice, the seaweed salad, it was healthy yet indulgent and just delicious.
Almost as good, and I can’t believe I am writing about a salad, is the Warm Kale + Sweet Potato Salad ($13). This salad boasts a harmonious blend of kale, sweet potatoes, sunflower seeds, feta, and a creamy housemade garlic vinaigrette. I was so in love with this salad’s flavors.
The bag of fries is good for the kiddos. The Yucca fries ($6) rock paired with the delicious fried chicken sandwich ($11). However, next time I think I need to add the Bucket of Chicken to my menu selection — a bucket of Island Fried Chicken ($30) with biscuits (YUM) and housemade slaw!
Nomans Restaurant Opens On Martha’s Vineyard: Craft Cocktails Craft Beers
The bar area is very similar to that of the old Lola’s regarding the set-up. It features a creative, diverse craft beer draft menu, I liked the Shoveltown IPA.
The cocktails are really good. Our bartender, Taylor was super fun to interact with! We really enjoyed Nomans’ spin on the classic Dark & Stormy, the Bright+Stormy which features Nomans dark rum (currently distilled at Cisco on Nantucket), ginger beer, pineapple, lime, bitters.
Also a fan of the OB Tea, bourbon, black tea, simple syrup, lemon, but don’t forget that there are also great non-alcoholic options available too, even Izze’s!
Doug, Austin, manager Maura Martin, and the Nomans’ team are doing an incredible job. They’ve created a perfect spot for all ages to spend their time relaxing and enjoying live on Martha’s Vineyard.
Oh and I can’t forget to mention that there is live music daily, 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.! Be sure to check out the Nomans merchandise too! The logo is pretty awesome!
Nomans is open from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and the breakfast baked goods look delicious too! You can learn more about Nomans on Facebook and don’t forget to like Point B Realty on Facebook and follow us on Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Youtube, & Instagram.
Will you still have buck a shuck happy hour?
They do not as of yet. However, Beach Road in Vineyard Haven does at 5pm.
Thank you!!
