In late October, MV Wine and Spirits opened its doors. Located next to Flatbread by the Martha’s Vineyard Airport, this location is a game changer for a lot of Island residents.
Brion and Brion Sr. McGroarty from Town Provisions in downtown Edgartown closed that location and opened their brand new package store, MV Wine and Spirits.
New name, new building, and new energy with this new store, Brion Jr. could not be more excited about this venture. The space is open, two people can fit down an isle at a time, and there’s even parking — plenty of parking — which in the past they never had enough of when they needed it.
For Brion, this new store offers so much opportunity. He is a craft beer enthusiast, so there’s an interesting beer selection. His current favorite is Weyerbacher. With so many options, Brion even plans to eventually do a beer club.
Customers will be able to mix a six pack up of craft beers, and have a little fun with their brews. They also plan to have some fun things with wine too.
Why not keep the name Town Provisions? Well, the father/son team didn’t want to be confused with being a convenience store, which is what Town Provisions was originally. Can you image buying diapers there?
Also, since everything is new, it made sense to have a new name with this new location.
There are some provisions available at MV Wine and Spirits, but it’s definitely geared towards beer, wine, and spirits. This location is so much more convenient for people who live Up-Island.
Think about it. You can grab some beverages and a pizza from Flatbread (when open) and you’re ready for a fun night.
Though only open for a couple of weeks, Brion has already had quite a few customers. One of his favorite experiences was when a man was buying some wine, and said he felt guilty buying wine in West Tisbury, but loved the location.
Brion had to laugh, since the store is in Edgartown, but feels so different from downtown Edgartown.
MV Wine and Spirits is a destination for people. The location offers a nice alternative for getting beverages in a fun, new central location. Their store is no longer an inconvenient location, where there’s no parking, or you haven’t already passed several other package stores.
If you’re wondering about the location of MV Wine and Spirits, it really is right next to Flatbread. There are no signs on the road as of yet, but it’s definitely there.
Signs are coming soon, but in the meantime, you can stop by and check it out Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Since the store is so new, there’s inventory coming all the time. Stop by, it’s quite different from any other package store on Martha’s Vineyard.
