Celebrating its 5th year, the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite, which has become such a part of so many peoples’ Island holiday tradition, welcomes its newest big bear.
This bear is larger than life. It’s taller than me, and is so soft and so huggable. It is sure to become a new MVTBS favorite.
Also, this bear has been very busy getting to know its new home. From the Farm Institute, to the Oak Bluffs Library, to Rosewater, to Felix Neck, this bear gets around. He will continue popping up places until he/she is named and heads to the MVTBS.
As its our fifth year, this is our fifth big bear to join in the fun. Edgar was our very first and is still part of the pack, and the other three, Chappy, TisBeary, and Obie (OB), were all named by you, our wonderful MVTBS friends.
This year, we hope you’ll join us again in naming this sweet bundle of joy. The contest starts today, Thursday, November 19th and the winning name will be announced opening day at the Suite, Friday, November 27th.
Over the next week, you can vote on Point B’s Facebook page or simply comment below.
Last year, Obie won by a landslide. Some other favorites were Mr. Pease, Squibby, Moshie, Tashmoo, Latte, Martha, and Lucy (Vincent). It’s all up to you.
Can’t wait to see what you choose for the bear this year. Perhaps this year, it will be a girl?
Can’t believe it’s already time for the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite. Where did October and November go? Luckily, the holidays are so magical on the Island.
For the second year, the teddy bears will call the Captain Rowley Cottage at the Harbor View Hotel their home for the next month. We’re happy to welcome back the Captain’s Cottages as our special venue. It truly becomes a magical place, filled with the splendor of the season, not to mention hundreds of teddy bears!
Wait until you see the “Spa” Bears this year, and what other bears have joined the group. Also, because it is our 5th year, stay tuned for other fun things happening with the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite. I can tell you this, save the date, Sunday, December 20th.
How These Teddy Bears Make a Difference
The Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite has established itself as an important fundraiser for the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club.
The event supports the Club’s After School Program. What is it exactly? Well, it’s where hundreds of kids from kindergarten to sixth grade go after school daily. Just stop by the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club. There you’ll find kids lined up to check in and participate in the Club’s After School Program.
Last year, the event raised almost $13,000 for the After School Program. This year,we hope to raise more, maybe even hit the $15,000 mark. This would have an even bigger impact on the lives of so many Island families and their children who call the Club home after school.
How does the MVTBS raise the money? Inside the suite, there is a box for monetary donations. Every dollar given goes directly to the program.
As the Teddy Bear Suite founders, the Point B Realty team has underwritten this fundraiser every year, as well as set up the Teddy Bear Suite website and online donation site.
And of course, we’ve had the privilege of meeting thousands of kids of all ages, who have not only enjoyed the magic of the Teddy Bear Suite, but also helped us raise a lot of money for the Boys & Girls Club..
Entrance at the Teddy Bear Suite is free, but we are always amazed by the generosity of those who visit and give. Any amount helps make a difference. The MVTBS inspires and enables you to loose yourself in the joy of the season. Kids big and small can’t help but smile and enjoy the moment.

Oh man! That is a big teddy! I’m glad to see you guys are doing such great things!
What do you think the bear’s name should be?
It’s time for a bear with some UpIsland love this year. This summer we watched as the Gay Head Lighthouse was carefully moved away from the cliffs’ edge and saved for the next century. It is only fitting to honor that monumental effort and give the this bear a name like Quinn or Moshie.
Thanks Scott – you might be right:)
I think it should be Tedster by Mason Warburton
I think it should be called Oakie, by Aubrey Warburton
Love it Warburton Family!! Thank you!
