The Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite has wrapped up its annual fundraising drive with the presentation of a check for $10,564 to the Martha’s Vineyard Boys And Girls Club. All the money raised goes directly to support the vital After School Program that is used by hundreds of children and their families on Martha’s Vineyard.
Surrounded by several dozen of the children from the program, event sponsor Point B Realty, represented by Owner/Principal Broker Wendy Harman, was joined by event co-chair Guinevere Cramer, and fundraiser partners Elizabeth Rothwell and Megan Honey from the Harbor View Hotel, as the check was presented to Pete Lambos, the Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club.
“Seeing all the kids today reminds us just how great a job the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club does here on the Island,” said Harman, who is the founder of the Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser.
“It’s gratifying to be able to see first hand, just how engaging the After School Program is, and what a vital role it plays for so many of our Island children,” added Harman.
Most Succesful Teddy Bear Suite Yet
The annual month-long fundraiser culminates with its marquee event during Christmas in Edgartown, when the actual doors to the Teddy Bear Suite open for three magical days at the Harbor View Hotel.
“In only three years, we’ve been delighted to see that the magic of the Teddy Bear Suite has become an annual holiday tradition on Martha’s Vineyard for hundreds of families, and children of all ages,” said Harman. “And this has been our most successful year yet — both in terms of the holiday magic as well as the amount of money raised.”
To help support the fundraising drive this year, event sponsor Point B launched a new Teddy Bear suite website mvteddybearsuite.com.
Along with the On Point Blog and social media coverage on Facebook, the website hosted online donations, media coverage, and the many related fundraising events, including the annual naming of a new big bear mascot, restaurant and spa raffle items, bear story hour, teddy bears on parade, and family portraits with the bears, among other new Teddy Bear Suite events.
According to event organizers, the bears and their Teddy Bear Suite fundraiser return again for the holiday season on Martha’s Vineyard, later this year in December.
