Last year’s hurricane couldn’t keep people away from the Martha’s Craft Beer Festival, and this year’s weather looks simply perfect, especially for people to enjoy the stunning background of this festival. When you’re not sampling a new favorite, take in the beauty of Inkwell beach. The festival is once again being held across the street at Waban Park in Oak Bluffs.
The Craft Beer Festival is happening this Saturday, September 22nd with gates opening at 12:30 p.m. Beer tasting begins at 2:00 p.m. (tickets are $69), but there will be music and food available when the gates open. VIP (tickets are $89) ticket holder’s beer tasting begins at 1:00 p.m.
Definitely consider the VIP, it’s worth the extra money. As an incentive to get your tickets before Saturday, the Craft Beer Festival has partnered with Point B Realty for a 10% discount – simply use code PointB10 at checkout!
What’s New on Tap (or in can)
This year’s even boasts a great new sponsor – Archer Roose Wines. Yes, I did say wines! Now you can sample craft beers, ciders and wine! A great addition to those who want to go to the event but are not beer drinkers. It’s nice to be inclusive!
Archer Roose is a great addition to the festival. As in past years, many of the breweries are local or regional. Archer Roose is Boston and New York based, so there is a local connection. I myself have never had this brand, and would love to find a good wine in a can. So let’s see what happens this Saturday -Archer Roose’s motto is “We bring you dangerously delicious wine in quite sensible packaging.”
Brand new to the scene this Summer, Vineyard borne Martha’s Spiked will be there. There is a great story behind this new bottled cocktail, click here to read Martha’s Spiked – Celebrate the Island Spirit of the Namesake of Martha’s Vineyard.Other local vendors include Offshore Ale Company, Wash Ashore Beer Company, and Bad Martha. How great to have so many, all at one awesome festival!
What’s also great is that there are so many breweries, over 50, and a number of them bring new releases to this ever-growing event. Last year, I was able to sample so many new beers, from Sam Adams, from Magic Hat, limited releases from Ballast Point….it was incredible. As a craft beer fan, I was giddy with joy from all the great beers I learned about.
Truly, if you are a beer fan, this event is for you. From lagers to stouts to sours to IPA’s to saisons to porters to bocks to gose and more, you will find it at the Martha’s Vineyard Craft Beer Festival.
More Than Beer
You may come for the beer, but don’t forget to EAT when there. There are some great local food options, including pizza from Pizza Di Napoli the Oak Bluffs Fish Market, and Vineyard Caribbean Cuisine. You can curb your sweet tooth with Mad Good Cookie – on my list to try, I have a soft spot for cookies.
There will be artisans there as well, offering people the chance to find unique momentos of the festival and cool local and regional finds. Like the very cool Ale for Tails, which uses spent brewer’s grain to make dog treats! Great way to get creative with food rescue methods!
It’s not a festival without music! There are number of local and regional musical groups on the schedule to keep you dancing the day away if you like. Some on the docket are Mike Martin y Los Rootsticks, On The Fritz, Dockdance Band and Rosie’s Ritz Band.
So get ready Martha’s Vineyard! The Craft Beer Festival is a day filled with fun finds, laughs, music, food and more. All you have to do is buy a ticket and enjoy the fun!
