People are always wondering what there is to do year-round on Martha’s Vineyard. You may be surprised to find out just how much is actually going on. A special place that is open all year is Island Alpaca. Here, you can enjoy an interactive experience with their adorable alpaca. It’s is a fuzzy and fun addition to our Martha’s Vineyard Bucket List: Discovering Island Alpaca.
Martha’s Vineyard Bucket List: Discovering Island Alpaca – The Basics
Located on 19 rolling acres of farmland off the Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road, you will discover Island Alpaca. Open year-round, Island Alpaca features a herd of 40 – 50 Huacya Alpacas. These adorable four-legged friends are not only wonderful to look at but are also so sweet. If you’re lucky enough, you will sometimes have the opportunity to see babies as well!
At Island Alpaca, you can have as interactive an experience as you want. You can walk around the barn, seeing all the different alpaca, do alpaca yoga in the summer, visit the gift shop, have birthday parties or weddings there, and even walk an alpaca and more.
Martha’s Vineyard Bucket List: Discovering Island Alpaca – Walking An Alpaca
For this month’s Martha’s Vineyard Bucket List experience, we got to take out some alpaca and walk them. I was walking Top Shot, and Island Alpaca Barn Manager Lexi, had his brother. And she knows so much about these adorable animals.
It’s one thing to walk your dog, but another thing entirely to walk an alpaca. It was something special, and to make it even better, I was able to hug and get a “kiss” too. I was on cloud nine. Have you ever wrapped your arms around an alpaca? It feels amazing — like hugging the softest thing ever. Take a look.
It is $30.00 per person to walk an alpaca, and this activity is available year-round. Want to make the week special? Walk an alpaca. Want to do something memorable for a friend, co-worker or family member? Have them walk an alpaca! It’s easy and fun!
