THANK YOU – When we began the Giving Tuesday Now Support The Island Food Pantry Fundraiser on Facebook, we were hoping to raise $2,500. However, that goal was quickly surpassed, and we knew we could do more.
We were so surprised and humbled by the generosity of so many people. Almost 200 people donated to Giving Tuesday Now Support The Island Food Pantry. We were able to raise $16,750 for the Food Pantry. We are so grateful to all those who donated and encouraged others to give.
Giving Tuesday Now Support The Island Food Pantry Fundraiser Helps Provide $117,250 In Food Support
For every dollar donated, the Food Panty can purchase $7.00 worth of food from the Greater Boston Food Bank. That means, that together, we are helping provide $117,250 worth of food for people right here on Martha’s Vineyard.
We banded together as a community to help make a difference and do something about the growing food scarcity problem the Vineyard is experiencing. Each week, the Food Pantry receives more and more people signing up for their help, and we were able to be the ones to help in such an unprecedented time of need!
“We’re so touched by the overwhelming response we’ve received today and in the wake of this crisis! Our community’s capacity to support our neighbors in need is a tremendous part of what makes this Island so special. Thanks so much everyone, and many thanks to our Friends at Point B for making this happen,” says Island Food Pantry Executive Director Kayte Morris.
This is a success to celebrate but the need will continue to grow. Please consider becoming a Monthly Sustainer, with a monthly contribution. Click here to find out more. In addition to financial support, you can help by volunteering, click here to help.
We’d also like to thank the MV Times for highlighting this fundraiser, and it was great that the Island Food Pantry had some great star power to help.
