Attention all summer renters, visitors, and home owners — For anyone planning to bring their car to Martha’s Vineyard this summer, an important deadline and action day is at hand. Car ferry tickets to Martha’s Vineyard go on sale Tuesday, February 4th at 8:00 AM.
Car ferry tickets for all peak July and August weeks usually sell out within the first day or two. So, it’s important that you both have a vacation rental in place by February 4th (we have some great options below if you’re still looking), and that you’re ready to go for the online opening day.
We also have a collection of homes that come with transferable car ferry tickets from the owners, for select weeks throughout the summer. View some options below. So, while that may be a good plan for some vacation rentals, for most others, you will still need to secure your own car ferry tickets.

Here’s What You Need To Know And Do Before Tuesday
1 – If you don’t have a vacation rental yet, we strongly recommend you book one before Tuesday (see below).
2 – Set up an online account with the Steamship Authority. If you already have one, make sure it is up to date. Click here to set up a new account.
3 – Have your account number and password ready to go on Tuesday.
4 – Have your vehicle information handy (including the year, make, model and license plate number).
5 – Be ready to go right at 8:00 AM, Tuesday February 4th!
6 – Have your preferred times already picked out, and if you can’t get the exact trip times/dates you want, be sure to put your name on the waiting list.
7 – The SSA says it will once again be using the virtual waiting room to help manage website traffic.
8 – Opening day is for online sales only. Reservations by phone are not available until a week later on February 11th.
9 – On February 4th, sign in here at 8:00 AM for reservations.
