Spring is finally here and the buzz of that seasonal Island energy is in the air! Buildings are being painted and refreshed, business owners are busy readying their seasonal businesses for re-openings and we can barely contain our excitement for another fun-filled and action-packed season on Martha’s Vineyard!
It seems every year goes by faster and faster and there’s never enough time to do all the things! That’s why we start adding those can’t-miss spring and early summer events to our calendar so we don’t miss the most exciting happenings on Martha’s Vineyard before they pass us by.

Save the Date for These Can’t-Miss Events on Martha’s Vineyard – Earth Day Beach Clean Up
April 22, 2023: Annual Earth Day Beach Clean Up & Earth Day Festival
Each year the Vineyard Conservation Society organizes an Earth Day Beach Clean-Up event and this year marks the 31st year! Since 2014, the Point B Realty Team has been participating in the Annual Earth Day Beach Clean-up with our own event, aptly named B Good to the Earth. We encourage anyone and everyone to join in this important time-honored tradition that helps to ensure the beauty, cleanliness, and sustainability of our local beaches.
New this year following the Beach Clean-Up there will be an Earth Day Festival, a Celebration of the Vineyard’s Conservation Community, at the MV Museum. Over 15 Island organizations will be there with activities for all ages, educational presentations, food, and drinks. There will be free admission to the Museum and free lunch for everyone who helped with the beach clean-up. See you there!

April 29, 2023: 2023 Island Alpaca Annual Shearing Day Festival
The herd at Island Alpaca prepares for their annual pre-summer grooming each April, and the public is invited to go celebrate along with the alpacas and admire their fresh haircuts. Get up close to these gentle, curious creatures and learn about how their fleece is made into soft fibers that make for the coziest gifts and goodies. The more than 30 alpaca at the farm will be sheared and available for public viewing and it’s fun for the whole family!

May 12–14, 2023: Formerly Pink & Green Weekend, Mother’s Day Weekend in Edgartown generally kicks off the spring season with shopping specials, events, and great excuses to take mom out on the town!

May 25–28, 2023: Environmental Film Festival at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society
The Martha’s Vineyard Film Society in collaboration with Vineyard Conservation Society presents “Nature As Inspiration” the 9th Annual Martha’s Vineyard Environmental Film Festival. This year’s festival will be a hybrid of online and in-person events. The festival includes environmental films, discussions, and an art exhibit dedicated to raising awareness of climate-related issues and concerns. It’s an important and thought provoking event!

May 27 & 28, 2023: Vineyard Artisans Memorial Day Festival at the Grange Hall
The Vineyard Artisans Festival returns to the Grange Hall in West Tisbury year after year, opening for the season Memorial Day weekend. Come and see all the new work our Island Artists have been working on all winter, and enjoy free parking and admission, catered food, demonstrations, and a playground for the kids.

June 3, 2023: The Annual Cross-Island Hike has been happening every year since 1993!
The Land Bank of Martha’s Vineyard has been commemorating National Trails Day, the first Saturday in June, by conducting a day-long hike across the island to expose people to the network of trails that connect the island’s many conservation lands and public properties. What better way to kick off the season than an adventure with fellow outdoor enthusiasts in appreciation of MV! This is a day-long, guided hike that differs each year and is ordinarily less than 20 miles in length and most participants elect to walk only a portion of the hike’s route. Join for as long as you’d like and immerse yourself in Martha’s Vineyard’s natural beauty!

June 10, 2023: Get ready for a fun-filled action-packed day in Oak Bluffs celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride!
Last year marked the first weekend-long celebration of Pride Month in Oak Bluffs featuring a kickoff party at The Ritz, a Pride Parade, drag brunch, and more exciting festivities! This year will be even bigger and better so be sure to follow Visit Oak Bluffs on Instagram to stay in the know.

June 10, 2023: The West Tisbury Farmer’s Market returns.
The Farmer’s Market kicks off June 10th and and continues weekly through the summer season! Events take place on Saturdays from June 10 through October 28 and on Wednesdays beginning June 14 and continuing through August 30. Home to the freshest food on Martha’s Vineyard! The West Tisbury Farmer’s Market has been a coveted summer tradition since 1974. This open-air market invites the public to shop directly from our local farmers and food purveyors. Markets take place at the Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Hall, rain or shine, free parking, and admission!

June 17, 2023: The Taste of the Vineyard
The most delicious night of the year! The celebratory Gourmet Stroll is the season’s kick-off event, the first of the two-night Taste of the Vineyard affair; where guests eat, drink, and dance the night away with new and old friends featuring the island’s finest restaurants, caterers, and beverage purveyors. The Taste serves as the Vineyard Preservation Trust’s most important annual fundraiser and by attending, you are stewarding their work to preserve and care for the island’s most iconic, historic landmarks including the Flying Horses Carousel, Alley’s General Store, and more.

June 16–18, 2023: Juneteenth Weekend
Juneteenth weekend on Martha’s Vineyard is shaping up to be a packed three-day holiday weekend of speakers and events with the theme of “Free as the Wind,” celebrating escapes from enslavement in America on the high seas. The schooner Amistad, replica of the historic ship that became famous after a group of enslaved Africans led a successful revolt and won their freedom in the U.S. Supreme Court, will even drop anchor on Martha’s Vineyard for Juneteenth weekend. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for this important celebration!

June 17, 2023: Oak Bluffs Harbor Festival
Oak Bluffs knows how to party and the biggest party of the season is HarborFest, a lively event along the harbor. Sip on a famous dirty banana from Donovan’s Reef, feast on seafood from Nancy’s or Coop De Ville, dance to live music from local bands, shop a variety of vendors, and get the season started off right. Typically an all-day affair from 10 am–8 pm with free admission.
