Let’s face it, there are days that you don’t want to leave your house or the beach or even bother with traffic in the Summer for that matter — but you still have food needs. Whether for your family or a dinner party or even just for you, did you know, there are now services on the Island that bring your food to you!
Vineyard Tastebuds
Ty and Trish Romijn introduced Vineyard Tastebuds last year. It’s a delivery service that partners with a carefully curated collection of Island businesses including Black Sheep, Morning Glory Farm, Edgartown Meat and Fish.
The concept is simple. Check out Vineyard Tastebuds’ website, choose a purveyor, contact one you choose, customize your meal, or your dinner party menu, and then let Vineyard Tastebuds do the rest. Just call them, set up your delivery, and know that your food will be delivered on time and at the right temperature.
Image calling Black Sheep, after you whipped together the perfect menu for an impromptu dinner party (both Black Sheep and Vineyard Tastebuds like 48 hours notice) from charcuterie to salads to sandwiches and more. All your courses. Then let Vineyard Tastebuds know and just like that, it is at your home or desired location. It’s saves so much hassle.
Have one of Your Market or Our Market deliver your beverages and you’re set for a wonderful meal, without leaving your home. Sounds nice right? Delivery fees may vary, ask when calling.
Vineyard Tastebuds also offers gift baskets for delivery, perfect for new moms, hostess gifts, house warming gifts, etc. Just call and work with Ty and Trish to get exactly what you want. They are happy to help.
Another added bonus: Vineyard Tastebuds delivers Chilmark General Store lunch to Lucy Vincent, Philbin and Moshup beach on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Just call in your order to the Chilmark General Store by 10 a.m. on those days, and voilà, you have lunch brought to you at the beach.
Though the list of partners features some great Island businesses, there is flexibility with who they’ll work with.
MV Takeout
There’s also MV Takeout, which run by friends Danny Barnor and Andy Kolev. It’s a little different than Vineyard Tastebuds but also delivers your food to you. The process is easy. Go to the MV Takeout website, browse its partners, choose what you want, pay, and then your food is brought to you.
MV Takeout’s designated drivers will deliver your order to your preferred location. The cost per delivery varies and can be found in “Your Cart.” Delivery Time for your order depends on the restaurant, what you order, and your location. For MV Takeout, it’s usually 60 minutes or less to have your food.
This is such an easy process, and the list of participating restaurants will continue to grow, including Edgartown Diner and Bangkok Thai (one of my favs).
Pizza Please
Porto Pizza in Vineyard Haven also delivers — though only from their menu. But hey, everyone loves pizza, and it’s a quick meal in a jam. Call 508-693-6200 to see what the specials are and find out the scoop on delivery to your town.
Stop Shopping
Stop & Shop has introduced Peapod to the Island, which is their online shopping service. Simply order online, see what the delivery minimum is, and you don’t even have to go to the grocery store. Delivery is available twice a week on the Island.
This is a pilot program running through September 1st. Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven, West Tisbury, and Edgartown are eligible for Peapod. The delivery fee varies but this is money well spent. Think about not setting foot in the grocery store for the rest of the Summer! Click here for more info.
Love knowing that there are options for delivery on Island. It might not be as extensive as on the mainland, but there are options and good ones! Happy Delivery! Prices for delivery start at $5.00 and up.
