Sea Smoke is a counter style restaurant. What does that mean? It’s sort of like cafeteria style. You get a tray, order what you fancy, get a beverage, and grab a seat, inside or outside. Why this set up?

Well, this is how you’ll find most great barbecue spots in Texas and the south. To find out the background on Sea Smoke, you can read Martha’s Vineyard New Restaurant: Sea Smoke BBQ New Sister Restaurant From 7a To Open In Oak Bluffs

For drinks, there are great beer options, including local fav Wash A Shore, wines that go well with BBQ, and creative non-alcoholic options. So, there is something for everyone.

Sea SmokeSea Smoke opened, July 20th, but there was a small tasting the night before. I was so excited to go. Gone are the yellow and red, in are soothing grey and black. Not to worry, the buckets for the rib bones still exist. This place has a BBQ heart and soul.

There wasn’t any brisket available when I went which I was a little sad about. Chef/Owner Dan Sauer said it’s one of his favorites. I guess I need to go back again, soon. However, I did have the pulled pork, so good, and the chicken was unbelievable. I never order chicken out, but this is chicken not to be missed.

Another item not to be missed is owner, Wenonah Madison’s corn casserole. It was creamy, sweet, and so flavorful — one of may favorites for sure.

The ribs were really good too, tender, fall off the bone messy good. They’re dry rubbed, and Sea Smoke has a great selection of housemade sauces like bbq and hot Carolina mustard.

Dan and Wenonah, have created such an amazing spot in West Tisbury, 7a, which has a following. People plan their days around incorporating a stop at 7a. Think the Liz Lemon, hot housemade pastrami, turkey, swiss, coleslaw, Russian dressing and potato chips on rye – oh is it good.

They have elevated sandwiches etc., to such a level, and I can only imagine how amazing their new restaurant Sea Smoke will be for the Island food scene.

Sea SmokeSoon Sea Smoke will be offering to go. Why is this exciting? Well, there is a great take-out window, you’ll be able to order through the website. How easy will that be! No fuss, grab and go! And if you need other provisions, Tony’s Market is right across the street.
