With our goal of $10,000 for the Boys & Girls Club After School Program in such close reach (we have $9,800+), we wanted to take a moment to thank the many people who supported the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite. Without the help of so many, this magical, community event would not be possible.
The MV Boys & Girls Club
The Point B Realty team would like to thank the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Cub for partnering with us on this event. The After School Program is so amazing, and what the Club does for our Island is beyond wonderful. Meeting the kids who participate in the program makes you realize just how important this program is, and how much the Island needs the Boys & Girls Club.
Whether the kids are doing homework, playing chess, or basketball, they are safe and having a great time after school. The program is an investment into the future of Island children, that’s why we continue to help raise money for this program.
We have to thank the volunteers from the Boys & Girls Club. Some are parents, some are board members, and some are kids who go to the Club, but they all helped raise money for the After School Program by helping out at our raffle table.
A big thanks: to Sarah, Amber & Nathaniel Cuthbert; Nancy & Howell Kelly; Manuel Hernandez-Burnham & Liz Burnham; Sydney Mullen; Joe Forte; Kris Bradshaw; Vicki Bologna; and Susan, Alex & John Habekost. Their smiling faces and enthusiasm encouraged a lot of people to buy raffle tickets to support the Club.
A Team Collaboration
In addition to the wonderful Boys & Girls Club volunteers, the Point B Realty team spent their weekend helping out too. As the event creator and sponsor, Point B Realty worked hard to help make the event special.
A big thanks to Stacy Ickes, Judy Rogers, Karen Brown, Kristin Buck, Erin Leighton, Paula Rego, and Cheri Mason. These ladies made the weekend even more fun. Plus, what better way to celebrate the holidays together!
And I can’t forget Point B Owner/Principal Broker Wendy Harman and her husband Win Baker. The whole idea for the Teddy Bear Suite was theirs in the first place.
We can’t forget our parade volunteers! Win Baker & Wendy Harman, Judy Rogers, Karen Brown, plus Alexandra, Annie & Kate Adams. Edgar, Chappy, and TisBeary loved riding in the Mini-Coopers with you all!
The Home of the Teddy Bear Suite
The Harbor View Hotel has been wonderful to work with. Megan Honey, Elizabeth Rothwell and the Harbor View staff have gone above and beyond in helping with the community event.
Suite 201 is where the magic happens. It’s a room with a stunning view and the perfect location for the Teddy Bears for the weekend.
Island Theatre Workshop
The Island Theatre Workshop was a special new addition to the Teddy Bear Suite. Stephanie Burke and Lee Fierro, with the help of Jesse Seaward did an amazing job bringing Teddy Bear Story Hour with Mrs. Claus to life.
It was a magical event for a number of children and adults. It was a lot of fun and we can’t wait for next year’s story hour.
Great Island Restaurants
This year for one of the raffle items, we had the “Island Restaurant Experience” – 15 gift certificates to 15 of the top restaurants on Martha’s Vineyard. Imagine winning that raffle item? It would be the perfect way to keep the winter months fun – a different restaurant every week.
We’d like to thank State Road Restaurant, l’etoile, Henry’s, Waterside Market, Offshore Ale Co., Art Cliff Diner, Slice of Life, Detene, Martha’s Vineyard Chowder Co., Atria, Water Street, Lambert’s Cove inn, Lucky Hank’s, Sweet Life, and The Terrace at the Charlotte Inn.
That’s a lot of amazing restaurants that supported the Teddy Bear Suite. We’re so thankful. This raffle item was a big hit!
Sea Spa Salon
Salissa King, from Sea Spa Salon in Edgartown, was so gracious to donate a day of pampering, the “Nuture Package” which offers a mani/pedi, a massage, a facial, and a hair blow-out. I think that would make a person feel pretty fabulous! Thank you Salissa for this generous — and popular — raffle item.
David Welch Photography
Noted Island photographer, David Welch, joined the Teddy Bear Suite this year. On Sunday, he brought in his lighting equipment, and turned the Teddy Bear Suite into the perfect holiday photo scene complete with teddy bears galore and a beautiful tree.
A $10 donation to the Club got you a beautiful photo of your family. Thank you David for donating your time and talent to help.

So, there were three ways to give to the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite to help the Boys & Girls Club After School Program. You could buy raffle tickets, you could donate when visiting the suite, and you could donate online — which by the way you still can of course, just click here, and don’t forget Point B is matching 50-cents for every dollar raised online until we hit our goal.
People were very giving. A goal of $10,000 is a lot of money, especially during the holidays. However, the After School Program is so important to our Island, and we are almost at our goal.
