The Harbor Stroll – A Fun Addition To The Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass & Bluefish Derby

The Edgartown Board of Trade is really creative with its fun events and ways to promote the town and business. A great example is the 2nd Annual Harbor Stroll that is held on the opening day of the Martha’s Vineyard Fishing Derby.

The Harbor Stroll is set up along the Edgartown Harbor, by the yacht club and the Seafood Shanty. For a couple hours, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in addition to signing up for the derby, you can also do a little fun stroll along the harbor and check out some great Island artists, Edgartown shops, and of course grab a bite to eat.

The town is really proud and happy to be a part of such an important Island tradition. Why not add to the fun with family friendly event that includes music, crafts for the kids and more!

The Artists & More

At the Harbor Stroll, you could find some local artist favs like Noepe Designs and Littlest Fish Designs. There were even some new finds for me, like Chappaquiddick Wood Company, which I need to learn more about.

You could find deals from the Black Dog store, some great Chappy Happy merchandise (the store is closed for the season), something for the pooch from the Preppy Pup and more.

There was chowder from the Newes from America if you were hungry, and delicious bites from the Blue Crab Kitchen food truck.

You could also enjoy the sweet acapella of Sound Wave, the first acapella group of the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Minnesingers. These guys were great fun to watch, and love that they’re so local.

Rockland Trust provided fun activities for the little ones who were at the Harbor Stroll, and of course the Edgartown Board of Trade had an information table there.

It was a gorgeous day, perfect for strolling around the harbor. Though I came for the stroll, I ended up wandering around town, grabbing coffee at Behind the Bookstore, picking out earrings for my wish list at Claudia’s.

Edgartown is so beautiful in September. The cooler air seems to slow things down. You can stop and chat with friends and acquaintances, linger a little longer places, and just enjoy everything.

I can’t wait for all sorts of other Edgartown adventures, after all, many restaurants are still open, and the Martha’s Vineyard Food and Wine Festival is right around the corner. All this in addition to the daily action of five weeks of The Derby. I love all these great shoulder-season events!

It was very strange to stop by the fishing derby station, when the leader boards were completely blank. I bet the energy is a lot different today, now that The Derby is in full swing.
