Shopping in Style on Martha’s Vineyard – Ladies’ Holiday Night

For the second year, Anne-Marie Eddy and Sarka have organized the most fun night of Christmas shopping on Martha’s Vineyard, the Ladies Holiday Night, a night of shopping, eating, and socializing.

Atria Restaurant Martha's Vineyard Ladies Holiday NightThe ladies have gotten together a great group of Vineyard artists for a night of joy, pampering and shopping. This year the event will be at Atria on Thursday, December 19th from 6 – 9 p.m.  I should mention that the Cellar Bar will be open for the gentlemen.  They can enjoy watching a game with a drink or just relax while you shop!

The main floor is being decorated by Big Sky Tents, and chef Christian Thornton is whipping up some delicious apps to enjoy. There will holiday punch and beer and wine — all of which will help ease some of your inhibitions about shopping.

This year, there are even more wonderful artists to choose from and that means something for everyone. Last year’s event, held at Eleven North, was a huge success, and I can bet this year will be too.

Why shop at  Ladies Holiday Night? That’s an easy questions to answer. First, you get to help support our local artists. The Island has so many talented artists and craftsmen. This event gives them a venue to showcase their work, all in one place.

Also, what a thrill it is to get one-of- a-kind items for friends and family. The gifts mean so much more when you know who made them, and that each one was givien special time and attention.

There’s also the social component. This is a great place to meet with friends, and make a night of it. You can actually ask people you know if  “it looks good on you” and know you’ll get the truth. With bevys and apps – there’s no reason to shop anywhere else.

Jewelry

Anne-Marie Eddy Jewelry Martha's Vineyard Ladies Holiday Night ShoppingPerhaps it’s something pretty with a little sparkle you might be after. Well, you’re in luck. Anne Marie Eddy will be there with her handmade one-of-a-kind pieces.

Anne Marie has been making jewelry for the past 5 years. You have probably seen her wrap bracelets in C.B. Stark or her amazing necklaces in Brickyard, both in Vineyard Haven.

Her pieces are very Vineyard. There is a lot of variation in her collections, just like there is a lot of variation in our six towns. This trunk show, you can expect to see a lot more bling and gemstones. After all, it is the holidays, and who doesn’t love a little something more this time of year.

Island-Made Accessories

If it’s scarves, belts, or hats and other accessories you need to cross off names on your Christmas list, then Kati Johnsen is there to help. Her collection of accessories is amazing, and don’t be surprised if you buy a couple of things for yourself.

Melissa Kagan will be there. She makes really cool, up-cycled bags that are quirky and eye-catching. She also makes handmade neck and bed warmers, which sound really good with the freezing cold weather we’ve been having this week.

Pampering Island Style

Salissa and her team from Sea Spa Salon will be there. You can get a parafin hand therapy treatment (which I would love to help with the dryness), nail polish changes, neck massages, and even buy some fun bling for your hair — a little added fun you can’t get while shopping at home on Amazon.

Revive, the cosmetics and organic facial products line will be available. Sarka, the woman behind these great products will be there to help you find the perfect addition to your skin care or make-up routine.

For the Home

The crafty and fun Libby Ellis will have a big assortment of her hand-painted & custom designed tea towels, cloth calendars and more. Her work is a sure way to brighten up your home, and make perfect Christmas gifts.

Leslie Freeman’s pottery will be available. Her unique, handmade pottery is beautiful and functional.  I love the pie plates shown in the picture. You can just imagine a delicious apple pie being served up in them.

If you’re looking for art that is affordable for the holidays, Althea Freeman Miller, from Althea Designs, will be selling her hand block printed art. I love the look of this type of artwork.

I feel like it can work for modern homes or homes that are a little more casual, and each piece is a one of a kind statement piece.

Speaking of statement pieces, you might just fall in love with Erica Welch’s handmade pillows. These pillows will add a little life and fun to any space. With the days so short, this is the perfect time to add a little whimsy to your home.

For You

Not Your Sugar Mamas will be there with chocolate to buy for those on your list that like a little treat or two. The bonus is that this chocolate actually nourishes the body and is good for you.

So, a bar may need to make it’s way home with you too. The “Be Rich” salted caramel bar is my new favorite – yum!

Yoga Haven will be selling some of the fantastic yogaware  that they sell in their studio, like Beyond Yoga, all on sale. The ladies will even have a bin of 50% off items. Good for your comfort and your wallet.

Besides the joy of shopping with friends and shopping locally, you will also have the chance to help out Island Elderly Housing during the holiday season. Each artist is donating at least one item for a group raffle. All of the proceeds from the raffle go directly to Island Elderly Housing.

From something for the home, something for you, or something for anyone special — this is the night to find it on Martha’s Vineyard. Some of the treasures you find here just may be irresistible. Have fun shopping locally with the ladies!
