I had been stalking Nauti Cow for its opening in Oak Bluffs. Found where Slip 77 was across from Nancy’s Restaurant, it opened it’s doors mid- August.

Friends went, and were hooked. They could not wait for me to try it. Ice cream is not necessarily my thing, but my kids sure do love it.Marthas Vineyard Ice Cream Nauti Cow Oak Blufs

 The Nauti Cow Difference

Nauti Cow is NOT your grandma’s ice cream. I hope I can capture the experience for you.  You don’t just order a cone, etc., you create a gourmet frozen masterpiece.

Owner Ashley Medeiros is particularly proud of the vegan option, which is made in-house. This was carefully created and a necessity, because she is dairy free. Without any options for her, she knew she needed to make something delicious.

Following the same attention to ingredient quality, the original, and yogurt bases come from a small dairy farm in Vermont, Kingdom Creamery, as does the maple syrup for the flavor options, which comes next.

Nauti CowYou get to choose your base flavor, and choices there are. From plain to black raspberry to Fruity Pebbles to cake batter, there are options.

Then it’s on to what Nauti Cow calls “toss-ins.” At this stage, you have 20 different types of things you can add to your base. There is something for everyone. You can be as restrained or as crazy as you want here.

Here’s where it gets awesome! Your options are carefully mixed together, and then liquid nitrogen is added. It’s amazing to watch, like a cool fog taking over the area. My kids were so enthralled and amazed and couldn’t stop the oh’s and ah’s.

But wait, there’s more. After that, you can add toppers. After all, what’s the ultimate frozen treat without whipped cream or caramel or hot fudge?

Our Creations

I let the kids go a little nuts, I am not going to lie. Charlotte got original with mint, brownies, Oreos, fudge sauce, and whipped cream.

Nauti COwAnderson got original with coconut, Oreos, peanut butter, coconut flakes, caramel and whipped cream. He was very into making his and took it very serious.

I got peanut butter base with Heath Bar and whipped cream.

Off to the harbor we went to soak up some sun and enjoy our Nauti Cow. The kids loved theirs. I think the whole experience was so fun for them, that they were even more into the ice cream.

I really liked mine, but here’s the thing. The base is so good, I feel like I would rather have it on its own, maybe just with a little whipped cream. The texture from the liquid nitrogen makes it so smooth and creamy and dreamy. It’s pretty incredible and really needs nothing else. I would try being a minimalist for your first Nauti Cow experience. On my next trip, I am going to be a bit of a purest.
