A New Year’s Commitment

Guinevere Cramer On New Year's Resolutions & What To Do On Martha's Vineyard For Point B RealtyWith the hustle and bustle of the holidays behind us, it’s time to think about the upcoming New Year. It’s funny how thoughts of exercising more or being organinzed start to creep into my mind.  Oh how those New Year’s resolutions give us hope of being better individuals.  However, this year I am going to resist the temptation to make several unattainable goals and make one overall commitment to myself – I am going to try to not commit to doing so  many things.  I try to pack so much into a day, and I frequently end up frazzled and exhausted with a hint of grumpy.   Martha's Vineyard New Year's Resolutions

I imagine that many of us are this way, and it’s going to be tough try to change.  However, I think it will be a better year for me, and skipping a lunch or not vacuuming today is not going to kill me, but enjoying a little more time for things I want to do, may just make life that much better.  If you are making resolutions, I wish you luck, but don’t beat yourself up if you slip now and again.

What to do on Martha’s Vineyard for New Year’s Eve

New Year's Eve Edgartown Oak Bluffs Vineyard Haven Chilmark Martha's VineyardNow it’s on to the fun part about New Year’s – what to do!  There are always so many fun things to do on Martha’s Vineyard!  For those of us who want to dress up (required for this event) and dance the night away, the Harbor View Hotel is hosting its first New Year’s Eve Gala, complete with the Sultans of Swing, a DJ, and FIREWORKS at midnight!  Sounds like a spectacular way to welcome in 2012.   In the mood for dancing that’s a little more casual (always fun to dress in 70’s attire), the Boogies are playing at The Wharf which we all know will be a lot of fun!  Feel free to share some fun pictures with us on the Point B Realty Facebook page.

Perhaps a quiet evening is more what you have in mind.  If that’s the case, many of the Island’s restaurants host a fabulous special New Year’s Eve menu, including Alchemy, State Road, and Lambert’s Cove Inn.  There is something nice about a four-course meal and the laughter of those you hold dear for New Year’s Eve.  There’s also the option to celebrate at home for this festive occasion.  An intimate dinner party with friends and family, specialty cocktails, the dropping of the ball, all can lead to the perfect night.  Just remember that there are fireworks at midnight this year in Edgartown which is not far from any town.

However you choose to celebrate New Year’s Eve, I hope that you are surrounded by those you love, and that 2012 brings you health and happiness.  Let us hear your resolutions and plans for New Year’s on Facebook. Good luck and happy 2012!
