Meet The New Owner Of The Beloved Edgartown Dairy Queen On Martha’s Vineyard

Imagine being a kid and Dairy Queen is one of your favorite places to get ice cream. Now, imagine owning your very own Dairy Queen as an adult, and that’s the dream that’s come true for Max Celeste.

Martha's Vineyard Dairy Queen New Owner Opens DQ For Season April 5th 2018

Though he bought the Dairy Queen in Edgartown in June of 2016, he spent the Summer working there with the previous owners, Tony and Erika Bettencourt (owners for more than 20 years) learning the ropes and experiencing the business first hand.

Dairy Queen In Edgartown New Owner Max Celeste Martha's VineyardFor the 2018 season, Max has taken over completely, and he is excited for the season to open. It’s a little later this year than usual, but for good reason. Max had to attend what you could call Dairy Queen school. It’s a big deal to own a DQ, and the training happened during the time it usually opens. The official date for this year is Thursday, April 5th at 12:00 p.m.

Here’s a little treat just for you blog readers – Max is offering FREE ice cream cones to kids on opening day. You’re a kid, it’s free. Even for high schoolers! How cool is that? No Blizzards or Dilly Bars, but good ole DQ cones. I love this gift to the community! And I know kids will love it too!

Dairy QueenWhat’s Max changing at DQ? Nothing. He loves it just the way it is. Well, there are some things, all things you are going to like, for example, staying open longer in the season, weekends through Christmas. There are awesome new DQ spoon handles on both doors. New floors and some new equipment, and a sweet new tip jar.

I know that I am one of those parents that wait in line on opening day, with my kids, who can barley contain their joy. Not to mention that I too am excited for the first Blizzard of the season.

Dairy QueenSpeaking of Blizzards, be sure to check out the new flavors. Hello Twix! Yummmmm! Also, if you’re not sure what to try, you can try the Blizzard spinner. Take a spin and let fate decide for you. Another fun little touch from Max.
