On Friday, Lucky Hank’s posted a delectable picture of potential beverages available to accompany brunch. On Saturday, the text went out to meet some friends at Lucky Hank’s for Brunch on Sunday.

I had not yet had brunch at Lucky Hank’s and felt inspired to go. Braving the freezing cold, we nested into a table for four. Anything you order at Lucky Hank’s is going to be good, and when you’re with friends, it’s fun to be a little bad.

There are so many delicious sounding options like Cod Cakes & Eggs, which has local cod, lobster tartar sauce, two eggs any style, with home fries and whole wheat toast. Maybe the Oak Bluffs Omelet, which is a
three egg omelet with bacon, onion, tomato, and cheddar cheese, served with home fries. There’s classic buttermilk pancakes and so much more.

Feeling the need for something a little sweet, I opted for the Blueberry Mascarpone French Toast. These little slices of heaven were made for an easy, slow Sunday. Just the right amount, creamy and fresh, with a little burst of sweetness from the blueberries, served with real maple syrup. Yum! I know you’re hungry now.

Of course a side of house-made sausage patties were required to complete my meal.

Another friend was on my sweet, comfort food kick. She got the Lucky Hank’s French Toast with fresh strawberries, shaved almonds and sweet ricotta cheese. These too looked so good, but I felt good about my option and didn’t ask to try hers, since I did not want to share.

Other friends were a little more healthy, opting for the Veggie Breakfast Sandwich. Stacked high with heathy goodness, it was a smart and delicious way to start one’s day.

Before we dove into our brunch selections, we started with a little fresh fruit. The addition of mint to this simple dish was unexpected and added a little extra brightness to the fruit. A great way to start.

A great thing about Lucky Hank’s is that it is easy to relax and feel like home. The space is inviting and cozy. Hours seem to go by in minutes. Also, owner/chef Doug Smith’s lovely wife, Yulia, was our server, and she fantastic!

I was even lucky enough to catch Doug in the kitchen whipping up the delicious brunch items.

Lucky Hanks’s is currently open Thursday – Sunday for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Brunch is offered Saturday & Sunday 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

In addition to brunch on the weekends, there are a number of other reasons to go the Lucky Hank’s, including inspiring dinner specials, wine specials (a list of great bottles of wines, all under $30), and it’s great to support restaurants that stay open year round!

Also, starting in April, every First Friday of the month, 10% of food sales will go to Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard. This is a great gesture on Doug’s part. Hospice is funded by the generosity of others, and is in need of support. What a delicious way to help.

Author’s Note: The only bummer about brunch was that we went too early for cocktails. You would think that at this my point in my life I would remember that you can’t have a bevy on Sunday before 11:00 a.m., but below is the picture that reminded me it was time to get Lucky!

Represented are Hank’s Bloody Mary, Raspberry Mint Lemonade and Blood Orange Mojito. All look and sound so good. Guess I need to go back.
