Whether enjoying the holidays on the shores of Martha’s Vineyard or the mainland, people love to get gifts made by the local artists here.

The Vineyard has an amazing number of talented people who craft one of a kind items.

Luckily, you can find locally made items in a number of stores around the Island. However, what a great idea to have a location where you can find several local artists’ work in one place.

Welcome to the Vineyard Holiday Gift Shop, a holiday pop-up store located on Spring Street (where the Green Room was many years ago). You can find something locally made for every style and every budget here.

For The Cook

Not only do people who cook love gourmet goodies, I think they also love to have beautiful ways to serve up their scrumptious eats. At the Vineyard Holiday Gift Shop, you can find a great selection of pottery from Scott Cambell’s Vineyard Pottery.

I was particularly fond of this beautiful blue serving bowl, and I was even more fond of the price. It was $28. What a beautiful and affordable gift to give someone you love.

Stocking Stuffers For Ladies

Simple Joy Herbals has a great assortment of herbal skin care products that would fit perfectly in a stocking.

From lip balms, (I got the lavender), to body butter, to “The Balm,” which is a healing salve that soothes almost everything from bug bites to cracked skin to cuts, and more, Simple Joy Herbs will bring a little joy to the gift recipient.

For The Ornament Collector

The shop has a number of handmade ornaments, but it was Stephanie Tilton Rossi’s (12th generation Islander), ornaments who stole my heart.

I have admired her wool ornaments for a number of years, and this was the year to get one for myself.

She somehow creates these beautiful, natural looking ornaments from wool. It was hard to pick a favorite. A fairy, a mermaid, a fat pig, a reindeer, and sheep? How to choose?

I ended up with a white sheep with a Christmas wreath on its neck. It’s hanging in a prime spot on my tree because I do really adore it. I might have to get a couple more of these.

For the Friend Who Has Everything

There’s always one person on your list who seems to have everything. However, here is something I bet they don’t have. A handmade dreamcatcher made by the talented Wampanoag, Jannette Vanderhoop.

She is the creator of Island Naturals which uses natural, found and reconstructed materials. All of her work is one of a kind and unique. In addition to the dreamcatchers, she makes beautiful jewelry and more.

See, I bet you never thought of a handmade Island dreamcatcher.

If You Like Leather

Leather Treasures, leather goods made from deerskin, by C. Marie Meyer-Barton, had some beautiful leather jewelry at the shop. The bracelet with the turquoise stones is beautiful on your arm, and it almost went home with me but will power kicked in.

Also, the leather baby booties she makes are to die for. A perfect gift for babies this Christmas. The leather from Leather Treasures is so soft, and her pieces are definitely unique.

For the Jewelry Gal

There are a lot of Island artists with jewelry at the Vineyard Holiday Gift Shop, a number of which caught my eye including, Celine Segal Jewelry. It’s funny, I used to do a lot of work with Celine when I was in the nonprofit world, and worked with MVOL, where she works at for her full-time job.

I had no idea that this computer wizard, who is beyond nice, with an affection for Diet Coke, was such a talented jewelry maker, but she is.

Of course I have a pair of her earrings, but I have to say that she has really come up with the quite the collection! I love seeing this side of her!

If the person you’re shopping for loves wrap bracelets, then you’re in luck. MV Treasures has a great selection of bracelets at the shop.

Designer Laura Hearn creates gorgeous wrap bracelets of all different shapes and sizes with a range of prices. I love her work. There’s always one bracelet in her pieces that I have to have.

Perhaps the person you’re buying for is looking for something a little different. Island Wampum, by Phoenix Russell, has some great options for the wampum jewelry fan in your life.

Phoenix has gotten really clever with her wampum designs, including anchors, flowers and she has some great, simple designs as well. Definitely worth a look!

The shop is open now until Christmas eve from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. If you’re not able to stop by before the holiday, you can shop there a bit after Christmas as well, before this pop-up shop closes its doors.
