Get It While You Can . . . Fall Dining On Martha’s Vineyard

The ebb and flow of Island life includes the closing of a number of restaurants. This always saddens me, since there is nothing I like more during the winter months then going out to dinner.

However, there is still time to grab a meal at a number of your favorite spots. Here’s our Fall Guide for your dining adventures over the next couple weeks.

Edgartown

Better get moving, Behind the Bookstore’s last dinner is September 25th. However, you’ll still be able to have breakfast and lunch at this quaint little gem right off of Main Street until Thanksgiving. This late closing date is definitely something to be thankful for!

The Covington, one of the new additions to the dining scene is open until Columbus Day (maybe a little after). It’s sister restaurant across the street, The Port Hunter, will be open until October 29th (think Halloween party my friends).

Sad news to report, Atria is staying open only until October 22nd. Better get in there ASAP for Sunday’s 2 for 1 Burger Night.

Atria Restaurant Martha's VineyardThe Katama General Store is still open, with limited hours, and soon they’ll be having their big end of season sale. So keep an eye out.

Right Fork Diner Martha's Vineyard Restaurants

The Right Fork Diner is helping keep things lively in Katama too. They’re open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. until October 10th.

Don’t forget about Among the Flowers too! It’s so nice to sit outside!!

Also open into late October is the Seafood Shanty, Detente and Atlantic. Don’t forget the bar scene at l’etoile – the restaurant is open until November 28th, and Chesca’s is still hosting a lively porch scene until October 9th!

l'etoileNot to worry, there are still plenty of great dining options in Edgartown, and we’ll keep you informed all winter long on good food happenings!

Chilmark

The Chilmark Tavern is open Thursday through Monday until October 9! Also, the Chilmark General Store is open until then as well. I grabbed a slice of pizza from the store just last week after hiking Menemsha Hills, and the porch is still lots of fun!

Aquinnah

Don’t forget about the cliffs. The sunset is just as epic, even if it’s a little earlier. The Aquinnah Shop’s last day is Columbus Day. This was one spot I wanted to visit over the summer for dinner and missed. I guess it’s on the bucket list for 2017.

Cliffhangers Restaurant Aquinnah

Cliffhangers is also still open – holding down the fort until mid October. Be sure to get the clam chowder here. It’s fantastic!

Oak Bluffs

If you didn’t go to Down Island last weekend, you’ll have to wait until next year. They are closed for the season. However, its sister restaurant, 20 By Nine is open until October 22nd. Glad to see a later date, 20 By Nine is so cozy and has great Fall cocktails! Stay tuned for more on that!

Down Island Restaurant Oak Bluffs

Beetlebung closed its doors around Labor Day which saddened me because Mocha Motts, OB, is still not open. Mocha Motts does plan to open soon though, fingers crossed.

The Sweet Life is open until October 9th this year – which is a great way to enjoy fine dining in Oak Bluffs!

Sweet Life Cafe Oak BluffsCoop DiVille is open until a little later in October. Nancy’s and Lobsterville both close September 25th. Fishbones is open until Columbus Day.

Coop

Fat Ronnie’s Burgers will be open at least through Columbus Day, with a chance to go until Halloween. Staffing is a little tough at the moment.

Red Cat is planning to be open until Thanksgiving, think about that fried chicken Ben makes on a chilly Fall night. Sounds like heaven!

Vineyard Haven

Garde East has closed for the season. Opened with much fanfare and a high profile chef, I didn’t hear much about this new waterfront restaurant this year. It will be interesting to see what the 2017 season brings.

I would double check you other VHN favorites for changing Fall hours, like Beach Road, Art Cliff, etc. You don’t want to have your heart broken by arriving to closed doors.
