Cape Pogue is an adventure that can really only be fully explored by four wheel, oversand vehicle. And the best way to do this, is with The Trustees of Reservations, the conservation group that owns and manages the wildlife refuge.

Our own Guinevere Cramer climbs aboard one of The Trustees’ safari trucks to experience this Vineyard Bucket List adventure.

Cape Pogue Lighthouse and Wildlife Refuge tours run frequently in-season. The Trustees will even come pick you up at the Chappy ferry to make your adventure easy. It’s a three minute ferry ride across Edgartown Harbor, from downtown Edgartown to the shores of Chappy.

And while you’re on Chappy, you may also want to explore the two other Trustee properties Mytoi Garden and Wasque Point.
