Last week I brought you the story about Chef Joe Monteiro moving and re-opening Pizza di Napoli at the Loft in Oak Bluffs. This week, I am very pleased to tell you that Joe is also opening an oyster bar.
Yes, an oyster bar in Edgartown no less! Hard to believe we don’t have one yet. Joe is opening Wash Ashore Taproom & Oyster Bar. The location? Church Street in downtown Edgartown, where Isola’s Healthy Habits once was.
Now the space isn’t huge but can definitely become a kick-ass oyster bar. Think about it. You don’t need a full kitchen. Joe plans to offer all the different oysters from the Island and two guest bi-valves.
He will also offer a selection of tartare and ceviche. The possibilities are endless. Joe is quite the genius in the kitchen, and all his energies are focused on this and Pizza di Napoli. He is no longer the executive chef at the Atlantic.
How exciting to have him so much a part of the food scene. Next I am hoping for him to open another Pizza di Napoli in Edgartown!
Since Joe is one of the partners behind Wash Ashore beer, there will be a big focus on that as well with this eatery.
By summertime, there will be the Wash Ashore Budda Ale, because partner John Clift (owner of Vintage MV) is a practicing Buddhist, Maya Mae IPA, named for Joe’s dog, and Boy Meets Girls Summer Ale (coming soon), which will feature the love story of partners Chad and Michelle Verdi.
There are plans for a full bar as well, so no need to worry if you’re not a beer drinker.
I have to say that I am definitely excited at this eatery’s potential. Soon as Wash Ashore Taproom & Oyster Bar opens, as an oyster fan, you know I’ll be there!!!! Could not be more excited!
