The first snow has fallen on Martha’s Vineyard, and many of us are starting to think of the holidays. Usually one to wait until after Thanksgiving to get into the spirit, this year is a little different.
I’m feeling a bit in the spirit a little early. Not that I am ready to hear Christmas songs or see Christmas trees, but I am ready for all that the holidays bring, great food, time with friends and family, holiday parties, and of course the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite.
In less than a month, it will be Christmas in Edgartown, December 13th – 15th, and the whole Island will be abuzz with the holiday activities.
For the third year, Point B Realty is sponsoring the Teddy Bear Suite at the Harbor View Hotel to benefit the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club. This event is a place where holiday memories are made.
New Teddy Bear Suite Friends
Another year means more teddy bears will be making the Teddy Bear Suite their home, and another big bear will be joining our family of teddy bears.
Of course, old favorites will be there like Edgar and Chappy, but our new bear definitely has a personality of his/her own. As you can see, this bear is already out and about, checking out the Harbor View.
We don’t quite know if it’s a boy or girl just yet, since that will be determined with your help. We’ll be asking for you to help us name this bear.
Last year, hundreds of people helped name Chappy. We loved the name you chose, and she is definitely a Chappy. It will be interesting to see what name is voted for this year’s bear. Wait until you see his/her face, so cute.
Beary Clever
There are new ways to enjoy the Teddy Bear Suite this year. We can’t tell you everything just yet, since it’s a little early, but I can give some hints. There will be a special photo opportunity and there might even be a visit from Mrs. Claus.
Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club
The Teddy Bear Suite is a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club’s After School Program. This program is an integral part of so many kids’ lives and their families here on Martha’s Vineyard.

This year the Teddy Bear Suite means more than ever to the Boys & Girls Club. Two of their other major fundraising events have been postponed with dates TBD, and there is a gap that we can help fill.
Last year the Teddy Bear Suite raised over $7,500 for the After School Program through donations at the suite, raffle items, and online donations. This year, we’d like to raise that and more, and keep the After School Program running strong.
